Happy International Tour Guide Day!

February 21st is International Tour Guide day, and we may be a day late, but we are never late in appreciating our Tour Guides!

All of head guides are ICT (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) certified guides. Do you know the importance of having this certification? Because anyone can say “I’m a tour guide”. But ICT certified guides have 1000’s of hours of courses, practices, exams, and tours and many, many certificates under their belt. This is required for any tour company in Costa Rica, to use only ICT certified guides, but unfortunately, not all companies follow the rules. This is when mistakes are made, accidents happen, and the quality of the tour isn’t up to par with what is expected from a paying customer. ICT also has the back of any certified guide in the case of any accident that may happen during a tour (hopefully that never happens).

So, when booking your tours in Costa Rica, it’s important to check if the guides are ICT certified and even better if the company has the declaration from ICT as well (Empresa Declarada Turistica), which we are!
